Join Steve and Sandra Long for a 12 day trip to Pemba, Mozambique via Zurich, Switzerland. This includes 7 days at the Iris base where Rolland and Heidi Baker live. Trip highlights include a day tour of Zurich, an overnight outreach in the bush of Mozambique and Holy Spirit meetings with Catch the Fire Switzerland, Iris staff. and Mozambique community.
Here is an outline of the itinerary:
Day 1 Friday, October 5 Depart Toronto to Zurich, Switzerland 6:20 pm
Day 2 Saturday, October 6 Arrive in Zurich, Stay at a Airport area hotel, rest and relax. Evening Holy Spirit meeting with Catch the Fire Switzerland.
Day 3 Sunday, October 7 Tour Zurich, 10:40 pm flight
Day 4, Monday, October 8 Arrive in Johanusburg, South Africa at 9:10 am, depart for Pemba, Mozambique at 11:30 am. Arrive in Pemba at 2:30 pm We will be picked up at the airport for the 20 minute drive to the Iris base. There are married rooms and dorms for single travelers. We will have a debrief with the hospitality team.
Day 5 – 10 Minister with the Iris team. There will be many ministry opportunities including serving at the medical centre, food distribution, working with widows, teaching at the African Bible School, assemblies with the children’s school, etc. The plan is also for an overnight outreach into the bush.
Day 11, Monday, October 15 Depart Pemba at 2:50 pm. Arrive in Johanusburg at 5:45 pm, 8:35 pm flight to Munich, Germany
Day 12, Tuesday, October 16 Arrive in Munich at 7:20 am. Depart for Toronto at 11:50 am, arrive in Toronto at 2:25 pm
Flight costs (as of February 10th, 2017) Toronto to Pemba, Mozambique return $2575 Canadian per person. Those joining us from Europe are encouraged to fly via Zurich if possible.
Hotel in Zurich is approximately $80 CDN per person with two sharing. We have five meals in Zurich. Please note: above average prices for Zurich restaurants.
Pemba meals: There are three options for participants.
If we choose to eat with the children, Harvest School students, Bible School students, there is no charge but a suggestion of a donation. Breakfast is bread and milk, lunch and dinner is beans and rice.
We will be staying in a secure area for the guests of Iris. It includes a kitchen area where we can make our own meals. There is a western grocery store where we can purchase our own food.
There are many local restaurants in the area including a 5 star hotel. Western prices.
Example Meal Plan: Sandra and Steve usually make our own breakfast in the guest area, have lunch with the kids and have dinner at a restaurant with Iris staff.
Admin fee: $100 CDN This covers the work that our team will do in preparing for the trip.

Dates – there is some flexibility if the arrival and departure dates need to be changed. We will check with the Iris team to see what the options are if you desired to come early or stay on.
We are limited to 20 people in Pemba staying at the Iris base.
