Facilities Trainee

This position is responsible to assist the Supervisor of Facilities with various tasks throughout the day.


  1. Grade 12 or acceptable equivalent

  2. Basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing and carpentry would be an asset

  3. Effective at communicating to supervisor, areas/items which are in need of repair

  4. Able to work with minimal supervision.

  5. Able to lift up to 50 lbs 

  6. Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is a requirement.



  1. Room Set up: Set up rooms for the different programs/events which happen each day, clean up after programs/events are done; straighten chairs in the main sanctuary.
  2. Light Bulbs: Change burned out light bulbs, and advise the Supervisor of Facilities when getting low on a certain type of bulb.

  3. Keep the Grounds Clean: Pick up the garbage outside around the building, pulling the weeds in the garden, watering the flowers when needed; During the winter, keeping the sidewalks salted and cleared of snow.

  4. Small Repair Work: Do small repairs in the area of electrical, plumbing and carpentry. 

  5. Regular Maintenance: Occasional cleaning of ceiling fans and light fixtures, fill, clean and organize the Lost and Found, open and lock up the building during the week when Security is not on duty;

  6. Assist other departments: Adjust room temperature; receive shipments; move furniture.

  7. Supply: Order supplies for Housekeeping, the SoM, Church and Central Campus.

  8. Oversight: Manage shared storage at the back of Overflow 4 and the Upper Rooms, to ensure area is tidy and departments are using their space appropriately.

  9. Other: Clean and fill the baptism tank; Ensure chair pockets in sanctuary envelopes; Other related duties.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Staff Category: Full-time/Permanent/Hourly

Hourly Rate: $14.00 an hour ($29,120/year)

CTF paid Health & Dental Benefits: Eligible upon a successful 90 day Probationary Review.
